Inside the Box

So what have I been up to lately? Besides packing and cleaning until I loose my mind, hehe, I've been playing around with different recipes and trying new things.

Lately mornings around here starts like this...

Hermit and Fig Newton Crumbles with Baked Apple on Oiko's Plain Greek Yogurt
Talk about cookie comma! When I ate a hermit, funny name, for the first time..I thought I died and went to heaven. All my needs of Grandma's seasonal gingerbread was met. Why hasn't anyone come up with this idea before, so divine! Just imagine a soft chewy spicy gingerbread cookie and you got it! And the fig newtons...wow I forgot how much I loved these. I'm planning on crumbling some into a pancake batter of some sorts, perfect chewy consistency! And yes I know I said that I was going vegan this week but the lovely people from Oikos sent me over a goodie box filled with dairy lovin' products...I couldn't resist!

Here are my reviews so far on it: Plain Greek Yogurt- Loved the thinner consistency, sometimes thick is too much for the morning and they got it right! I also loved the tart flavor, who doesn't? Strawberry- Not a real fan..kinda reminded me of my childhood of yoplay. But maybe I'm bias since strawberry isn't my favorite fruit. Blueberry- Talk about yum! The flavors were all there and the fruit at the bottom, brilliant! Honey- My family did not approve but it's probably my favorite of all. I just think the flavors are very harmonious, sweet and tart. And its the perfect canvas to any toppings you choose. I have some more plans for these little yogurts..can you say yogurt sunday?
On to more eats.

Too many afternoons to count of this...

Massaged Kale with Avocado and Cumin Dressing and Olive Oil Rosemary Sweet Potato Rounds

Way too many cups of this....

Red Sod Tea with Dehydrated Orange Slices

And one rockin' Indian inspired dinner....

Channa Masala with Roasted Red Bell Pepper and Curry Carrot "Fries"

I took a break from the normal sweet potato fries and went with another orange friend...carrots! I spiced mine up with cayenne and curry. Next time I want to use cinnamon and nutmeg, they are so sweet that it would make them more of a dessert! Carrots...dessert? Just trust me. Try them!

PS: Keeping to my vegan/raw dreams I am going to continue to integrate them into my daily eats but continue to stay vegetarian as of now. Once I'm settled in my new place I really want to give it a chance but right now this is just more balanced for myself.

What new recipes have you been trying?
Gotta go pack some more and give Lulu some kisses! xoxo
