Breakfast Trends: Brown Rice

Vanilla Nutty Brown Rice with Pears

Sometimes oats don't cut it. Sometimes I wake up and want a nutty bowl of brown rice. This morning I had a huge bowl of leftover rice in the fridge so it was the perfect opportunity to get to some creative working. Being that brown rice takes up to a hour to cook I love to have it made the night before that way I can reheat and enjoy whenever I feel the need to! For breakfast this morning I mixed some warm brown rice with plain hemp milk, nutmeg, cinnamon and protein powder. Someone asked me yesterday what brand of powder I use and I honestly swear by Nutribiotic vegan vanilla rice protein powder. It's very plain but creamy and the ingredients list is impressive, its just wonderful! Then I added another level of sweetness with melted banana mixed in and topped with dark chocolate chips. My favorite addition was some roasted leftover pears and crunchy almond butter. I felt like I was in Paris enjoying a dessert while I was eating this. I am begging you to try this combination, it will send you to another world!
What do you think the next breakfast trend will be?

I am very glad all of you love the idea of truth week. I think it's really going to be fun and hope it continues longer then a week!

Truth: If I could be an animal I would be a lion. Since I was young I always related to cats. I admire their agility, focus and strength. As I've grown older I have a new found respect for bigger cats, mostly lions, they are such awe inspiring creatures. I take inspiration from them as I too protect my loved ones, stand strong in the face of fear and do courageous things daily. Not to mention I have the long blonde mane of one too...just throwing that one in there. ;) But in all seriousness I adore lions and what they represent. I often find myself drawing them on a regular basis, the sketch above was finished last night. Thank you Anthropologie for the canvas and picture frame...aka wrapping paper and cardboard box!
Leaving paper flowers all around my room..

Nora and Lexi will you share some truth?
Please check out Operation CCK!! xoxo

I totes agree that truth week should be longer than a week. Sometimes i feel that the world would be a better place if we were always honest with each other. Granted, that is a lot easier said than done. But i also think that saying random truths on a daily basis is not only good for your soul... but good for those around you as well. Awesome idea.

I LOVE brown rice breakfast. I like to make it like a fried rice with bits or chopped fruit and nuts. Banana walnut with blueberries was my recent concoction and it was uh-maiz-ing. Try it now, thank me later.

Maggie, I have been thinking of making brown rice for breakfast but have had no idea how to go about it. That breakfast looks awesome!
Now, I think brown rice will be the next breakfast trend. I’m pretty sure the current one is oats. They seem to be everywheeeerrrree.
It is nearly impossible to go to a blog and not find them, but they are so good!

I love your truth. Lions are such beautiful animals. Cats in general are so graceful, noble, and confident. Really admirable creatures.

I've always wanted to have brown rice for breakfast! somehow it always manages to make its way from the 'leftovers' container into my stomach before I remember it can be eaten in the A.M.

...I must work on that..

It looks scrumptious!
