From Words to Whim

"Cherry Garcia" Yogurt Mess of Plain Fage Yogurt mixed with a doughy Coconut Chocolate Chip Cookie. Topped with Walnuts, Cinnamon and Spicy Dried Cranberries. Mug of Chocolate Amazing Grass.

This week has been all about channeling my creativity in sights and words...someone who does that beautifully is my sister...

She never ceases to amazing me. Besides her whimsical pen sketches and her enchanting writing I always love her approach to collaging. This is a bit of something she is working on currently. I'm begging her to start a blog to showcase a bit of her work but we shall see..peer pressure, perhaps? :)

I can't say she wasn't my muse today...once more I focused on color and sight when making my lunch...

"Cold Cuts" of Roasted Kabocha, Brussel Sprouts, Tomatoes, Zucchini and Basil on a bed of Nutmeg Polenta. Topped with Thai Lime Cashews, more Basil and Korean Tofu.

If the "Where the Wild Things Are" book was captured in a meal this would be it. Hearty, whimsical but earthy. There is nothing like leftovers especially when they were roasted the night before! I am always that person in the kitchen that saves every scrap...maybe I should have been born during the Depression...my Great Great Grandmother would be proud.
Just when I thought my day was going cheery look what showed up at my door...

Oh me! Oh my! Lemon Bar?! If my lemon meringue loving Papa was here he would probably be sneaking this one. Thank goodness I inherited the love too! I'm probably the most happiest girl in the world right now..seriously thank you Lara!
I am off for a bit of thrifting and getting my cat's nails trimmed, I'm down to my last nickles but I do need a lamp of some sorts...maybe a floor spot light?
A few things to note:

  1. Currently I'm going for a quirky art gallery feel to my room. Think this candle meets white walls, black furniture. With a touch of whim.
  2. Battling my thoughts of cutting my hair after growing it finally out. From this to this. Please talk me out of it!!
  3. Loving Kabocha and Sunbutter and old favorites.
Everyone...its Friday! How are you spending it? Hope your weekend goes quiet well :)

I want to see your room when you're done decorating! Speaking of quirky galleries there's one here called Quirk - you would love it! Tonight I'm going to this event called First Fridays. all the galleries open their doors to show off their new exhibitions and entice visitors with wine and hors d'oeuvres. I wish you could come with me!

By the way, your eats look and sound so delectable. I think everything you put together would happily find it's way into my tummy.

Peer pressure your sister into starting a blog! Collages are awesome and I'm sure she's got some beautiful words to share.

XOXO

I LOVE the look of your lunch. So many delicous flavours in one bowl. And the colours make it even more special.
And I'm so jealous of your lara package ;)

I wish i could shrink down and sleep on a bed made of those Larabars... i just looks so inviting. You pictures make me feel like i have the shakes or something when i take mine... put me to shame much?

Have you seen 'Where the Wild Things Are?' I was thinking of wrapping up my friday with that movie but decided on seeing the box instead. Looking back i think i may have made the wrong choice but who can say?
