"Storybook" Fall Oats- My oats this morning tell a story of what falls means to me. Warm pumpkin pie, spices, walnuts and my dad's banana nut bread pretty much sum it up. Last night I hardly could sleep because the smell of his bread filled my place...so beautiful! This morning I crumbled a bit of everything and came up with an fantastic breakfast! How can you go wrong with pie and bread on top of oats? Carbs rule!
This weekend I've been kinda cooped up in the house since its been storming for days! So I've had a bit of time on my hands to do a few things like...

"Dehydrating" some buckwheat groats. Since the sun was gone like the last piece of pumpkin pie...I had to resort to the warm setting on my oven. Worked like a charm!

Speaking of pumpkin pie..love soy spiced pumpkin candles..

Almost as much as I love fluffy cats! She is the color of fall, no?
I managed to do some Pilate's and had a few cups of green tea , then I made lunch...

Raw "Sloppy Joe's" = heaven! I picked up some chipotle spices at the local farmer's market a few days ago and they have been such a help to my food. Love me some spice! Is it a crime that go through two kabocha's a week? Oy!
After sheets and sheets of rain fell I finally decided to brave the cold to pick up the Pixar movie UP. It was very much a tear jerkier in the beginning...yes I know it was animation. But its such a vibrant movie though and had a great lesson to the story. I'm a sucker to Disney!

While I watched the movie I snacked on a bit of banana bread.....

Ok..I had way more then a bit. This bread could change the world, glorious!
After the movie I had some time to whip up a "pizza" of sorts with a polenta crust and goat cheese. All I can say is that local produce always tastes better!

Mushroom and Goat Cheese Polenta Pizza, Roasted Garlic and Balsamic Vinegar Salad

Homemade Pasta Sauce with Local Grown Broccoli
I know this post was a bit random and all over the place but that's how I've felt lately. I have been trying to let my day have a constant unrestrained flow instead of always scheduling everything. That's what weekdays are for..not weekends! Did you plan out your weekend or just "see what happens"?

mmm banana bread ;)
ReplyDeleteand i really need to see that film "UP". it looks so precious!
i rarely plan out my weekends as such. i make plans with friends, but dont stick to a routine or schedule like during the week - i go with the flow and succumb to spontanaity!

Totally with you on the carbs rule part. I like to plan my weekends when possible--they're all I look forward to during the week.
ReplyDeleteMaggie, it all looks so delicious. Polenta pizza? That sounds like an angel descended from yum heaven.
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen "Up" yet, but am greatly looking forward to it. I love kid movies. Love em. Same feeling applies to Children's literature.
If you do open up that Etsy shop, I'd definitely buy some of that banana bread.... ;)
ReplyDeleteUp is such a great movie. It touches the heart, which is what I love most about Disney movies! (animated movies)

ReplyDeleteCarbs rule, seriously.
my weekend was kind of you know whatever, and it was nice. didn't plan a thing.
There are few things better in life than carbs that are loaded with pumpkin and spices. Your pictures are making me crave a big bowl of warm, golden oats!
ReplyDeleteI like my weekends to be leisurely. I always have things that I absolutely must do, but I make sure I take my time doing them. That way I don't get stressed out and I actually get everything done!
Thanks :)

I try not to plan my weekends too much, I tend to make my plans with people the day before or on the same day. I like to be spontaneous and do whatever comes up that I'd like to do!

Leslie- I made the polenta crust with corn meal and whole wheat pastry flour. It's not the premade polenta at the store.
