Raspberry Jam and an Cracked Pepper Egg on SourOat Bread
Morning! Do you ever open the refrigerator and everything looks good? That is exactly what happened to me for breakfast this morning..but instead of being overwhelmed I went with it. First up was some souroat bread and raspberry preserves. I was totally right about the flavor combination..love sour bread with sweet preserves. My Nonna use to over toast homemade sourdough and spread a dainty amount of her favorite jam when I was a child. Still to this day I can't have actual sourdough without burnt edges! I also added an egg on the side for a bit of yolk to soak my bread in...yum.
And what's breakfast without a bit of Greek yogurt? I just received an package from the lovely company 18 Rabbits so I had my eye on their granola bars to top some yogurt. I crumbled a bit of the Funky Fig's and Cherry bar and swirled it a bit more with preserves and cinnamon. So what did I think? Trying it without the yogurt it was divine and usually that's the true test. Then with the yogurt it complimented it perfectly. Do I dare say they are better then any granola bar I've tasted? I dare! I loved the chewy texture and the sweet flavor from the figs. They were differently not over sweetened and the seeds kept true with the granola concept. I loved it!

18 Rabbits was kind enough also to send over a few pins that I found adorable enough to stick on obnoxious places around my place. Like on my scarf collection, the kitchen table cushions and Lu's knit sweater. Please excuse me but the haute one was too cute! I cannot wait to try the Haute Diggity Date bar next:)

Greek Yogurt with Cheeky Cherry Chocolate, Kashi Cinnamon Harvest and Banana Slices
Snack time on Tuesday around quiet suddenly and I was too excited to burst open another rabbit bar! When I wake up truly exhausted I gravitate toward two things, chocolate and coffee, thank goodness the cheeky cherry chocolate made up for the lack of coffee available. A few things worth mentioning is that the dried cherries were delicious, the chewy texture was percise and the chocolate was just the right amount. I love how they kept true to the granola concept and made each bite a mix of all flavors..hate when its just a mouthful of sweetened oats. Only thing I can complain about is that it tasted like milk chocolate and I don't have a big sweet tooth so the darker the better. Cherries + dark chocolate = heaven. Enough said.
Another reason why I love 18 Rabbits...I love what they preach:
Making Peace With Fat (Here’s Why You Should Do That!)
"Poor little fats. They’ve been so misunderstood. But healthy fats everywhere can rejoice- for it’s 18 Rabbits to the rescue, to spread the news your body can use!
There are, however, also healthy fats, including polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fats. Not only are these healthy, they are a necessary component of a well-rounded diet. Healthy fats are essential for brain development and the maintenance of healthy hair and skin. They also help the body to absorb vitamins and move them through the bloodstream.
Healthy fats are found in fish, seeds, nuts, and some plant foods (such as avocados).
Polyunsaturated, monounsaturated, omega this and omega that… blah blah blah. Healthy fats are quite a mouthful. We’d rather have a mouth FULL of 18 Rabbits granola (and we’re sure you’d agree!) " More information can be read here!
The Funky Fig will be finding it's place in my purse along with my cherry pie and peanut butter cookie Lara stash for now on. Welcome to the familia :) If you have tried these, what are your favorite flavors? Or what's your favorite lara bar?
