Lumpy Banana 50/50 Oats with Peanut Butter Lara Crumbles

Whenever I eat Lara Bar's I think of this song...for some reason I pretend it says "lara lara" instead of lonely lonely. Silly I know! This morning while I hummed the tune I crumbled a peanut butter bar on top of my oats. Nothing like the classic pb&banana..doesn't get any better! So what have I been up to food wise lately? Well besides enjoying banana nut bread at wee hours of the night, craving hummus for breakfast, visiting asian markets and fermenting any grain I can get my hands on...I've been reviewing some products.

Lemon Poppy Seed Heart Thrive

This week I was sent some heart thrive vegan cakes over by the kind company Suncakes. After debating over the cranberry or lemon poppy seed I decided to go with the later being that its my favorite flavor of muffins For an afternoon snack I warmed one up and placed it besides some greek yogurt. I tried it first without the yogurt and I absoutely loved the flavor. I diffently could taste the lemon right off the bat and the seeds were crunchy. Sadly after a few bites it became quiet dry and almost too hard to swallow. I finally crumbled it all over the yogurt to finish it up. I was very pleased with the flavor but not the texture...and I'm a big texture person! It was dissappointing in that aspect and the ingredient list also contained soy which I've limited completely out of my diet. I still have a few more to review and I'm excited to try the cranberry one, maybe crumbling it on something wet will make it more moist? Hope so! Hope everyone has a good Thursday!

Lovely little giveaway!

  3. I'm not a fan of every flavor of Lara Bar out there, but I do greatly enjoy the Peanut Butter and Jelly one. I can imagine crumbled over oatmeal it would be divine.

Thanks for the insight on the lemon poppy seed cakes. Greek yogurt is grand at helping out dry muffins/cakes.

  7. Mmm... lara crumbles on lumpy banana oats ( <3 )

I agree with you on Heart Thrives. The taste is spot on and super delicious, but the texture can be a little too crumbly.
I ate them a lot when I was taking 3hr summer art classes, and the crumbs would get all over my stuff. not good.

  10. I've never had a Heart Thrive before, I have no idea where I can get one!
We don't have cool food at our grocery stores here in Texas. Quite tragic.

I second Maya, your photos look EVEN MORE amazing than usual. The lighting is beauteous.

Hope your Thursday was lovely and relaxing!

  11. How and what are you fermenting? I've recently discovered the joys of fermenting and am eager to experiment. So far all I've done is rolled oats soaked overnight in water with apple cider vinegar...If you have any recipes, guidelines, tips, etc. that you could send me, I'd greatly appreciate it! Thanks!
