Apple Heart Thrive with Vanilla Greek Yogurt and Bananas. With a side of Kamut Toast, Egg Whites and Almond Bean Coffee.
This week has been a whirlwind of sorts. I don't know if I should be giddy, jumping for joy, or screaming like I just received the best gift in the world. Maybe all three? But things are good. And when things actually start lining up and going the right way the pessimistic person in me is hesitant of what lies around the other corner. I keep telling myself that I need to be more optimistic but I guess its always been my safety blanket, sort of speak, to prepare for the worst. Lately my mind has been filled with so many thoughts of what is going to happen in 2010 that I haven't really been focusing on my food choices. Note: Many bowls and plates, many different flavors. I caught myself putting salt in my tea the other day. Oy! So please bare with me and my random meals as of lately. Roasted tahini hummus on kabocha? Lentil and Carrot Stew with Goat Cheese? Bad experiments! Soon as I get to the market I need to seriously stock up on some "thoughtless" items like Trader Joe's pre-made hummus and pasta sauce. Sometimes when my mind is so preoccupied I need to keep my food simple...besides I really miss a good old homemade margarita pizza or a bowl of pasta. Are you the same way?
Anyways lets get to what I had for breakfast this morning....an apple Heart Thrive I've been meaning to have with yogurt and it did not disappoint! Besides Newman's Own Dried Apples this was the best real apple tasting packaged goodie I've had in a while. When I tasted it straight out of the microwave my first thought was "I wish they sent me just a box of these"! So good. I also had slice of kamut toast and egg whites because what's breakfast without toast? And no, I did not go to Starbucks for coffee...they gave me an extra cup for my hot tea the other day and I couldn't throw it away. Recycling is the new black, obviously, so in my coffee went this morning.
As 2010 holds many good things for myself personally I still want to end 2009 on a good note. Some things to look forward on the blog are...three HUGE giveaways, one reader's choice contest and a new breakfast trends post this week. Too exciting...but I patience is not something I am too fond of so I decided to put up one of the giveaways today!
Prize: Amy's is kind enough to give one reader of My Breakfast Blog a trio of soups (featuring their newest, Spanish Beans & Rice). Getting through that December chill with warm healthy soups? Perfect! But that's just one of the prizes...Sahale Snacks are also giving away four varieties of their nut blends to the winner also! Who says snow day's can't be all snacky fun? My favorite ways to eat them is with oats or with fruit!
How to enter: Lets keep it simple just do these two things! 1) Link this giveaway on your blog. 2) Tell me your favorite snow day treat and let me know you linked up in the same comment.
December the 12th, Saturday, I will randomly choose one person to win! Have a great Thursday!

It snowed here in Arkansas on and off all day Saturday. Nothing stuck, but those floaty flakes were so beautiful!
"...when the snow starts to fall, I always crave hot chocolate, especially with a splash of hazelnut syrup. Coupled with a dark, fudge-y chocolate pumpkin spice muffin/cupcake, it's a decadent snack that warms me in every way."

When I was a kid, I used to fill up a bowl of snow and coat it in maple syrup. And eat it. It was delicious and amazing. Did anyone else do this or was my family crazy? =)
Nowadays, I love baking on snowdays--especially banana bread or a pumpkin loaf. Or my mom's cinnamon applesauce muffins. Mmm
I don't have a blog, but you're on my reader and I'd like to be entered!!
I love baking granola on a snowy day! I edited my latest post to mention your giveaways.

Fave winter warm up? Cocoa. With whipped cream. To be enjoyed while sitting under a blanket, preferably with a good movie on!
My alltime favorite snowday treat is popcorn and baked apples. I know, random, but it's what my mom would always have made for us when we were little kids. I can remember always coming in from those magical days filled with sledding and igloo constructing, being enticed by the incredible smell of baked apples. Since our house was always the "go to" location on snow days, my mom was kind enough to whip up some good old popcorn to go with the apples. All of us kids would dine infront of the fireplace, praying for another snow day! How I miss those days...
Oh, PS, I linked back :)
Yikes it's 11th december! I almost missed this super giveaway! Shame on me.

We never get snow days here in AZ, BUT, if I did I'm sure I'd love any hot beverage, such as coffee, hot cocoa, coffee & cocoa, with homemade chocolate chip cookies.
I wish I had a blog to link back to you. :( I love this blog, though. I've been reading for a wee bit but never commented, lol.
Hrmmm. Texas doesn't have much of a snow day, but on cold frosty days or days where we get snow for 1/3 of the day, I looove a good grilled peanut butter sandwich! It's all gooey and warm, it's hard not to love it as a snack. A good side of hot coco and maybe fresh cookies aint too shabby either. ;)
My fave snow day treat would be anything warm like coffee and/or chocolate based...some of my raw vegan choco goodies :)
