Flavor Seeker

{California Sun Dried Tomato Breakfast Sandwich}

I would like to start off by apologizing to all my neighbors. Yes I was the one jumping your fences, stealing pine cones and maple leaves with an gingerberry kombucha in hand. No, my brand new boots did not get scuffed up but I did manage to stuff three branches into my car. I promise it was all for a great cause! Glad I got that off my chest....

Alright on to this glorious sandwich. Between the green smoothies and finishing up dozens of left over baked desserts for breakfast, sometimes I crave a good sandwich. Nothing frilly, no peanut butter or jam. I want garlic. I want pepper. I want flavor. This was one of those mornings.

The French Meadow Bakery sent me some samples to try so I pulled a loaf from the freezer and got working. I placed a slice of the multigrain gluten free bread in the toaster for around three minutes until it was toasty warm. Sliced it in half and spread raw sun dried tomato garlic sauce. My farmer's market has the cutest stand from this guy who makes his own raw spreads. This one is a take off hummus without the beans..just flax seed, garlic and some other natural ingredients. It's adorable when he eats raw kale chips while talking about health benefits of eating garlic. Go see him if your an local. His stuff is amazing! Ok rant done.

I cooked one huge farm fresh egg sunny side up in an infused garlic olive oil that really comes off more floral then anything. And then I dressed it with as much black pepper as imaginable. Imagine more..more..ok good. Then I sliced some avocado from our hill's tree and layered it on. The creamy avocado paired with the spicy jalapeno garlic spread, I dolloped on top as well, was idyllic. A little sea salt and pepper and it was done. I sandwiched it with the other piece of bread and called it breakfast. A quick note on the bread - if every gluten free bread tasted this authentic and natural then I think I would have went gluten free years ago. Something that doesn't taste like cardboard! Try it. Enough said. I would encourage any flavor seeker to replicate this sammie, we just gotta find you an raw garlic spread making farmers market boy...that might be a problem...

Today is an crazy little day. Like I mentioned before, I've been collecting all my neighbor's yard "extras" for a special make your own pizza party I am having this weekend. Pine cones are present. Lavender handmade chocolates. And baskets...a whole lot of baskets. I will post pictures soon. Make that sandwich already and check my pre party frantic tweets.
