She visits a local farm for sun dried raisins and fresh farm eggs. She makes a play list worthy of long summer road trips. She buys striped t-shirts to tuck into olive skirts. She visits the tailor twice. She sits under rainbow umbrellas with her friend's family. She eats green basil curry for leftovers. She consumes bee pollen all day long. She has her portrait painted by five year old twins. She strolls with carmel gelato while she ponders in each windows reflection. She rides too many red trains to count.

She starts a trend of coconut oil with her eighty year old girl friends. She learns a little more about herself. She visits the doctor many times. She misses her grandma's laugh. She snuggles with her puppy. She plays mommy for the day. She pretends to sing amazingly. She eats raw salmon sushi and loves it. She learns to let go. She gets stronger. She watches baby hummingbirds hatch.

She makes a "21 things to do" list. She decorates everything with flowers. She lives in color. She works three jobs. She spends all seconds of the day thinking of the future. She plays with essential oils. She dusts off her camera. She cooks three times for her friends. She bakes brownies at two in the morning. She tells twenty one people she loves them and means it. She finds herself. She makes breakfast. She blogs.

I've been gone for some time...not too long but just the amount of time that feels right. I guess I never could be completely checked out. There is something about baring your soul for others to be inspired by that is alluring to someone very private like myself. Unique food has been consumed, colorful clothes have been purchased and my eyes have never twinkled so much in my life. I've transformed more into the person I want to be, accumulated qualities that I have always admired, all while meshing those things with who I am already. I think that's what becoming well cultured person is all about..growing, changing and incorporating all the things you absorb from experiences with your original preferences of life.

So here I am. Starting from scratch, ready to share my breakfast with you all. Excited? I am!! My breakfast choices lately vary as much as my color coordinated top drawer -things picked solely on a whim and are based on nothing more then the mood I am during the moment. I've been drawn to textures, strong flavors and ingredients that just came from the soil hours ago. That and cheerful hues, earthy relishes and roasted roots. Of course my little favorites like cinnamon tea, almond butter and banana smoothies will always be craved.

{Homemade Dehydrated Juice Pulp Bread with Garlic Hemp Hummus and Kabocha Squash}
Example A...my breakfast this morning..because who doesn't have hummus and squash for the first meal of the day? I've been snacking on these slices of cheesy nutritional yeast bread for days and they have become a huge craving of mine - not to mention full of veggies that were soon to be tossed anyways. Juice pulp holla! Yes I'm green like that!!

Paired with a glorious juice of beet, carrot and blended cacao..it was eventful at the breakfast table!! I am off to get to making a bowl of sweet potato chili that's been stewing all day. Love, M

ReplyDeleteOh many things have been going on in my kitchen. Lots of cooking for potlucks, recently a cooking day for my birthday/going away party, lots of raw vegan treats (I've been posting about them), and prepping things to add to delicious and colorful salads. Recent favorite extra things to add to otherwise usual salads as of late are roasted beets, roasted Japanese sweet potatoes, goat cheese, and diced golden delicious.
