I'm sure that I am not alone in the fact that when things seem complicated and out of my control my room is the first to be effected. As if the hours spent in my own little world pulling all the layers of my secret place apart really would change whats happening in my life.

{The inspiration - two succulents & wooden box my friends Grosspapa carved in Switzerland}

My mind's reflection is shown in a pool of shoes, dust and thank you cards. Once the book shelves get cluttered I know there is time for organization and change within myself as well as my surroundings. They go hand in hand.
I have this friend who is a painter..shes a minimalist to say the least. Her walls are off white, the floors raw wood and a few petrified wood sculptures here and there. The faded orange sorbet rug from her daughter as the only pop of color. It changed my world.

{Before}
Her simplistic nature and early morning surf stress free mind set was evident without words. It was stunning.

I know for myself I would want a place of the same kind - raw woods, simple light colors and earthy materials as accents. But something tells me there would always been to be one bright room - mirroring my own colorful moods I often swing into.
After my Europe trip my style evidently changed - I dress more simple but my room is full of color, texture and things from around the world. I suppose my eating choices have followed that course with bright bold flavors and risk taking spices.

So there I was yesterday afternoon, very much overwhelmed with my own finances. Pulling my room apart while humming away tears.

I ended with two bags of things that will go up in my shop soon but out of my mind for now. As if arranging each corner rearranged things that have been bothering me for some time in my mind.
{After}
Maybe this was a make under but it was a much needed change. All those cobwebs needed to be cleared and I needed to make more space for future things. I might have been talking about my room this whole time...or not.
