Oh Hey there! If you haven't noticed, its Fall...and that's my favorite season ever! Lately we've been taking the back roads, slowing around the curves in the roads and getting lost in sage overgrown hills.

Is there anything better than eating roasted pumpkin all day, taking the time to watch honey drip into a hot apple tea and finding your roots in an song? This month has been filled with all the above with the addition of flavorful food with the season's warm bounty.

When a slight breezy afternoon comes upon us all I want is to make my mother's salted chocolate chip cookies with brown sugar and all the fixings..and when I write "make" I mean I want to make the dough and eat it all before even baking those babies...I know what I like...what can I say?

I made an hearty breakfast worthy version of the classic eggy cookie dough I would eat by the spoonful as a child.
This one included overnight chia seed pudding (vanilla protein powder + +handful of oatbran + chia seed + almond milk + cinnamon) then blended it with cashews and some stevia the next morning. Topped off with nutritional yeast, carob powder, sea salt and cinnamon. It was childhood memory bliss!

And without even having to say it of course was much healthier then the original but something I'm craving days after to make again. Try it!!

The weather is telling me its summer while my tummy is telling me its fall..such a conflict that I decided to throw on a pot of some mushroom two bean chili last week to settle matters.

The chili won..its officially fall! I also cut up some squash from a farm down my street that sells organic seasonal produce outside all day. Its a grand concept right? Local. Seasonal. Organic. food only minutes away? Wow! :) It was delicious with baby fennel seeds and other spices to roast it with.

I can't ever say goodbye to my beloved green smoothies. They do wonders for my complexion - I always can tell if its been too many days without a good green drink.

The only thing that's changed with this batch is pumpkin pie spices (allspice + cloves + cinnamon + nutmeg + mace) mesquite powder and my newly special addition cashews. Seriously throw some cashews into any smoothie you make and bammm!! It adds a new level of creaminess that almond milk just cant give. I called this a chai latte and made it for breakfast for a week! Yummm

This could easily have had pumpkin in it but pumpkin seems to be sneaking into every meal..but I'm trying not to overdue it since I know come mid November all you'll see is pumpkin pie, pumpkin cinnamon rolls...pumpkin cashew milk!! Easing into it..

Along with long hours of work and much to do with life in general..I've been saving for a pair of life changing boots...I probably could have waited till Black Friday but this girl is not about patience. I know its one of my weaknesses! So these unruly things may or may not be my new roommate. Aren't they adorable? I seriously couldn't justify eating pumpkin and cinnamon for four months without these babies on...

What is life without baking? I've been pretty fixated on making my own version of this recipe...but I added carob powder, more molasses and a special blend of autumn spices from my farmers market. Sadly though I may have over mixed the batter.

It smelt amazing but came out very dense..very chewy..very rich..not my favorite bread that's for sure. I know it had to do with my overactive whisk and/or the crazy ingredients I didn't measure. Rest assured though me and this bread made plans the next morning for something delightful....

Bread. Pudding. More photos soon...You will love it!!
