I love Cashews

This month I'm on this skin clearing kick where I spend my days applying apple cider vinegar to my pores, juicing until my hands turn orange and adding as many omega fatty acids to my diet as possible. Any tips? Among avocados, coconut oil and fresh salmon, cashews have been my fat of choice. I've been obsessing over creamy cashew hummus on handmade socca, my raw lemon frosting cookies and this glorious quick wrap below...

Cheezy Cashew Spread Veggie Wraps -using this recipe for the "cheese", yummy cashew spread on a gluten free brown wrap with roasted veggies. Cashews that are so versatile you wont miss the dairy. Creamy and rich these nuts make any dish luxurious. Roast for a buttery flavor or leave raw for all the wonderful health benefits - omega fatty acids, trace minerals and protein.

-can make any sauce/spread vegan
-add to green smoothies instead of "milk"
-chop and toss in salads
-raw desserts
-perfect energy snack

The lovely website over at Navitas Naturals even has some awesome recipes that I have bookmarked like Goldenberry Citrus Salad Dressing, the Buckwheat Graham Crackers and the Cashew Chipotle Cheese! Try a few of these out and let me know your favorites!

As for my skin cleansing mission...I really would love any tips..I have sensitive skin - dry mostly. I often breakout if my diet includes any sugar or dairy so I've eliminated them as much as possible..only vice I have is my carob/chocolate love that seems to always greet me in the morning on my face. Any ideas, tips? I currently use Proactive mostly and Juice Beauty when my skin behaves. I know I should be using SPF too at my age...any good healthy brands? Thanks!!

  1. One of the best things for my skin was actually making my own stuff, since most other brands just seemed to irritate my skin more often than not. There is a very interesting book called "Absolute Beauty" which discusses Ayurveda skin care and has "recipes" for what works best with one's specific skin care needs. Another fun thing to do is honey face masks (helps with dry skin) , simply just mix honey with nutmeg, put that on your face, let it sit for a bit then wash it off! Good luck on it!

  2. Water is my best tip for clear skin ... lots and lots of water!

  3. Good question! The thing that keeps my skin clear is avoiding sugar and vegetable oils (apart from coconut oil), and keeping my skincare really simple and gentle.

I've got a natural beauty channel, if you want to check it out at: http://www.youtube.com/alissaevelyn - you might find some of my skincare reviews interesting...
