July Breakfast

Hey there! How is your summer going? Mine has been very relaxing -fruity tea, cacao smoothies, honey wine, beach trips, wearing lots of stripes, grilling peaches and taking naps instead of exercising. Bliss! I also have been taking more time for my health - dealing with adrenal fatigue symptoms but have been boosting supplements and changing my diet to more protein and fats!

Warm sunny days mean chilly flavorful smoothies - this one is in constant rotation with my other favorite -raspberry, vanilla goats milk protein and chia seed. The lovely people from Navitas Naturals sent me a few of their products to try incorporating into my smoothies to help me with my journey to recovering my adrenals.

I loved using the cacao powder, since I am a huge chocolate fan and it has the iron and magnesium that my body needs to deal with my changing hormones. I also used the chia powder which was very new to me, I always use whole chia seeds, but this is sprouted too which means my body will absorb it quickly for the best benefit. I loved how it makes my smoothie extra creamy and flavorful! And do I even need to rave about the raw cashew nuts? They are the bomb!! The perfect creaminess to a smoothie and the omega fats that I need to feel my best. Everything is raw, organic and full of fantastic flavor!

I am all about a powerful breakfast but without the food coma or crash before the day even begins. This is my little recipe to my very favorite smoothie lately. I find it super filling, will replace any sweet treat craving and keeps you feeling fantastic until lunch time. The toppings are based on personal taste but totally not optional :)

Raw Cacao Crunchy Smoothie
1/2 cup Organic Coconut Milk, guar gum free
1 cup Water
1 tbsp Organic Sprouted Chia Seed Powder
1 tbsp Organic Extra Virgin Coconut Oil
1/4 cup Organic Raw Cashews
1 tbsp Organic Whole Psyllium Husk
1 handful of Organic Spinach
1/2 cup Organic Blueberries, frozen
1 package of Stevia, Sweet Leaf brand
Ice
Blend. Add ice and water to desired consistency. Pour in a huge floral  mug and top with local bee pollen and cacao nibs from Navitas Naturals!

If you love the crunch of childhood cookie milkshakes this could totally be your thing. I even convinced my coffee lover mother to exchange her morning mocha for one of these babies! Seriously try it :)

Besides the yummy breakfast smoothies I've been blending up...I've also been wearing black and white, stripes and punches of bold colors. So different than my earthy boho style but its always fun switching things up especially when your major inspired. You can blame my tumblr account for that!

At my new job I nanny daily and this was a project for the kids and I - painting special wood boxes or picture frames. Mine is an floral treasure memory box full of collected seashells from our long walks at the beach, broken colored glass from my mother, and stones with notes on them. I painted it gardenia, flamingo pink and yellow jacket from Martha Stewards collection. Just love bright colors in summer.

Besides my Teavana addiction I drink an raw coconut water every afternoon when I get the chance. The sweet people from Harmless Harvest sent me over some coupons to get me that much more addicted and do I ever love their products. If you haven't tried raw organic coconut water you really are in for a treat - tastes like your sipping a fresh thai coconut. Creamy, smooth and naturally sweet!

I really love it straight up when its ice cold but I couldn't help but put together an dream worthy drink, chocolate milk, with three simple ingredients. Add ice or an frozen banana and blend!

Bits of spring still floating in my closet.

Lovely frye wedges and reminded me of something one would wear on a train in the 1940s but they sadly went back to the store in favor of a more comfortable pair of Tom's wedges. I guess I am turning into a comfortable girl :)

Just a little bit of randomness. Check out my tumblr for more updated photos and make that smoothie, it will become a classic!! :)

Whats your favorite breakfast this July?

  1. I just have to say how much I love your blog! I've been following for a little while, and I adore your tumblr too! I'm in a similar situation with my adrenal and hormones as well. That smoothie looks like perfection :-)

  2. Very cool blog! Your posts make me salivate! I wonder have you ever tried Turkish Breakfast? I am living in Istanbul and it is one of my favorite things about living here. I think you would especially enjoy the Kaymak, it is like clotted cream and is usually served with lashings of cream! It is to die for! Check out my post about it if you are interested. http://theistanbulletin.com/2012/10/10/eat-turkish-breakfast-and-sing-along-at-home/
